There is always hope that the coming New Year would give us better opportunities to improve our lives and enjoy every minute of it. Some people may have already planned a bunch of events in the first half of 2020 as some sort of jumpstarter. Having parties and celebrations is the best way to give ourselves a boost to get through daily challenges as there is a couple of events that we are looking forward to attend after straight weeks of hardwork.

Unfortunately, it seems like Mother Earth has other plans for us with the emergence of a deadly novel coronavirus. Formally known as SARS-CoV-2, the virus originated in Wuhan, China sometime in late 2019, then became successful in spreading to major populations around the world. The coronavirus disease of 2019 or COVID-19 has already been declared a pandemic, forcing the shut down of cities in every continent. This is bad news for people who are eager to go to events where they can enjoy and relieve their stress as the way to curb the spread of COVID-19 is to practice social distancing. This means that events or any form of mass gatherings are prohibited.

Who Says Fun Events Or Meet-Ups Can’t Happen In A Pandemic Setting?

There is thing thing called flattening the curve that public health experts are telling us to achieve amid the COVID-19 pandemic. This means that we have the decrease the rate of infection so that someday there will be no more new reported cases of  COVID-19 infection, and the active cases will go down. To do so, everyone must practice social distancing. In this case, parties and events are forbidden. While this sucks for those people who loves to go to fun parties, cancelling events in a pandemic is just important for the sake of saving lives.

However, thanks to the internet, people will not have to suffer being alone in their room and starve from social interaction. Why not host an online-based event where you can still have fun and mingle with a bunch of your friends like you are just hanging out altogether in an actual party?

Of course, as a host of an online event, you must make sure that you have stable internet connection, as well as a very reliable app where you and your mutuals will meet. You might also need an IPTV so that you can have a nice view of your huge online gathering.

Why You Should Cancel Events this Pandemic

The novel coronavirus, or COVID19, has now reached the level of a global pandemic. That does not, however, mean the spread of the virus is impossible to stop.

With the pandemic taking hold with the world, malls are closing, events are cancelling, and people are starting to stay at home rather than moving, partying and going places. This pandemic has taken its toll on us and the best thing we can do to “Flaten the curve” is to stay home for as long as our officials can control, contain and stop the spreading.

Yes, asking people to avoid gathering in groups and keep at a distance from others is one. And cancelling or postponing small to major events is next. It is a need now because cancellation can now save your life and the people closest to you.

Why Cancel Events?

Cancelling events and encouraging people to stay out of crowded areas may seem like overkill in places that haven’t had a high number of identified cases of the virus, but evidence from past outbreaks shows that implementing policies that keep people at a distance can prevent one from exploding.

You need to know that major events in the world have cancelled. And the once busy world has finally gone in silence. Major NBA games, which the world has subscribed to, joined to, is cancelled. Graduation rights are cancelled. Movies are cancelled. Birthday parties are cancelled. Concerts are cancelled. And to think even religious gatherings and mass services are being cancelled.

People need to realised that COVID19 isn’t just ordinary flu. And the US statistics of positive cases are proof of that.

It’s you either stay home and save lives or go out and risk yours and lives of the people you love.

Stay Home

Applying social distancing measures to the extent the system allows, though, is the best defense against the spread of the novel coronavirus, particularly without vaccines or treatments available. The goal isn’t to eliminate the disease entirely, but to keep cases from appearing all at once. During a pandemic, that can mean the difference between a severe outbreak and one that’s more manageable.
