This week’s Tips Tuesday is just what my sweet tooth needs! Desserts and more desserts! (I always thought it was funny how kids were taught the difference between desert and dessert is an extra “s” because we always want more). Get ready to eat with your eyes... and maybe prepare to send your love out on an ice-cream run as we dive into the world of all things sweet for your big day!
The dessert is the centerpiece of the reception room – after libations have flowed and your guests have broken it down on the dance floor, desserts are the perfect late-night snack. But whoever said that your dessert had to be a cake?! This Tuesday we are going to discuss other options besides that four-tiered frosted beauty.
Of course, cakes are stunning and hold a certain air of elegance. We love the cut which the couple makes together, the height which they add to the décor, and the sophistication that can be found through sugar flowers or the trendy naked frosting technique!
However, feel the freedom to step into your style! Have fun with it! Explore with your partner a dessert choice that is unique to you – did you have donuts on your first date? Did you both revel in making cookies with your mom each holiday season? Is your Sunday night in not complete without an ice-cream sundae?
Some of our favorite cake substitutions include pie, an ice-cream bar, cupcakes, donuts, or even a table full of candy! Or mix it up, throw it all together, and get extra woo-hoos from all your guests. Can I get a yum?!
Desserts are an unique and easy way to carry your culture as a couple throughout the rest of your big day. Don’t stop with personalized table numbers and music choices but stretch your creativity or let your baker surprise you with something other than fondant and buttercream. Grab a spoon, hop on Pinterest, and start savoring the joy in making such a sweet decision.
