, Lisa and Mark are honestly the most lovely, sincere, modest, kindest couple I have ever had the privilege to work with (and I’ve worked with some awesome people!). Their venue was a blank canvas which allowed them to be creative as well as use the character of the rustic space. Lisa and Mark won many of their vendors via an auction for Wish Upon a Wedding, allowing them to simultaneously save money and give to a great cause! Congratulations Lisa and Mark!

How adorable are my newest clients?! They met in the Senate and were engaged in the Capitol. I love it. Their engagement session took place in Utah where the bride is from.

Sarah and Kim had been engaged and waiting to get married for a long time. But Sarah is a Marine, so they were forced to wait until Don’t Ask Don’t tell was repealed. Knowing that was to finally happen in September of last year, Sarah and Kim quickly planned a wedding for October. I get to witness a lot of marriages and meet a lot of wonderful couples and probably because of that privileged I no longer tear up at weddings. But these ladies chocked me up more than once leading up to their wedding as well as on their wedding day. In working with them both individually they each in their own way expressed how much they just wanted the other to be happy and have what she wanted. You cannot meet them for more than a few minutes without seeing their love for one another.
Their ceremony was amongst my favorites because of their obvious love and I loved their non-traditional reception where we transformed a local gay bar into a fun reception space. Sarah and Kim are proof that good things are worth waiting for! Congratulations, Sarah & Kim, I was so proud to be a part of your day!

How cute is this cake?

Heather and Matt had a very classic, all white, Washington, DC themed wedding. This may have been the most fun wedding I have ever been to much less planned! Heather’s family has a tradition of having props at all of the family weddings. I expected a single box of props to set out near the photobooth which would be used in the booth. I could not have been more wrong. There were 5 boxes and the guests did not wait to use them in the photobooth. The minute they entered the dinner portion of the reception props were snatched up quickly and all of the guests were wearing hats and wigs and blowing on air horns all before the soup was served! I had never seen anything like it and I loved it.
Heather’s dad hand drew all of the table names and escort cards, which were all Washington, DC buildings. They were beautiful and were also featured on the invitation. Guests were served 5 different kinds of pie and ice cream after dinner and were then surprised by the Washington National’s Presidents. Once again, my expectations of the evening were blown out of the water when then President’s stayed on the dance floor for most of the night partying with the guests, they even got in the photobooth!
This was my last wedding of the season and they sure made the season end with a bang! Congratulations Heather and Matt!

Neenu & Sameer are a lovely couple who were both so invested in the planning of their wedding it was wonderful to witness. I worked with both of them equally and loved the experience. They were laid back, but at the same time knew exactly what they wanted and how to get it done, they and their families made my job easy and fun. And I could not be more in love with the results, all of the colors, the dancers and the many details that go into an Indian wedding make them amazing and this one was no exception!

Paola and David are a lovely, unassuming couple married this past September at Glenview Mansion. They were both very hands on and their attention to detail and hard work paid off. It was a drizzly day until time to walk down the aisle and the sun came out just in time. The couple, both of their families and their friends were a joy to work with. Best Wishes Paola & David!

Kelly & James were married on a blustery day in September at the beautiful Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort Spa and Marina. The super relaxed bride shrugged off the cold as did all of her guests. Luckily the amazing gazebo where the reception was help has a wood burning fire place, which not only kept guests warm, made for a beautiful setting, but also gave the guests somewhere to toast their s’mores favors later in the night. The fun loving couple named all of their tables after Florida Keys, had a clothesline of escort cards which included pictures of their life together and even tossed around a football during the reception. They are such a cute couple, I did something I rarely do and included more pictures of them than details. I just couldn’t resist! Congratulations Kelly & James!

Sonia and Neil were married during the intense heat wave of July. This low key couple kept their cool even during their outdoor ceremony in 100+ degree weather. Their ceremony and reception both involved elements of their Indian and Jamaican heritages. They took important aspects from Sonia’s Indian culture and implemented them in the ceremony and Neil’s Jamaican roots were implemented during the reception with Jamaican music and Jamaican rum cakes as favors.
This super fun couple had custom made Converse in their wedding colors that said Let Luv Rule and Sonia changed into them and a short wedding dress in order to more comfortably rock the night away. They enjoyed every minute of their day! Congrats Sonia & Neil!

This has got to be one of my favorite weddings I did this year! Becky and Lee are just the loveliest couple, their venue was amazing and my favorite photographer shot the big day, which all adds up to a perfect day! Congratulations Becky & Lee!

Vicki and Mike were married in a beautiful ceremony at the Carnegie Institution in June. You may remember them from their adorable engagement session at the National Zoo. Keeping with the theme of their engagement, Mike and Vicki named their tables after animals and had a peacock feather colored decor. Besides the great details they had so many lovely moments involving their family and friends. Two of my favorites were Mike’s grandfather blessing the challah and Vicki’s dad playing the accordion during the Hora, making for a wonderful mix of Vicki’s Jewish religion and Polish heritage. Congratulations Mike & Vicki!
