Inspired by Candy Canes

I am loving candy canes in any way shape or form right now. Candy stripes on linen, candy canes to eat, drink, as decor, as a topping. I’ll take my candy canes any way I can get them.

It is going to be impossible to get into the bars tonight, or even this morning in some cities! And some of us area always looking for an excuse to throw a little get together anyway. So here are some great recipes if you are celebrating St. Patrick’s Day at home tonight. Now I’m not  fond of corned beef and hash type of recipes, so don’t look here for that, but if non-traditional Irish-ish party food is for you then I’m your girl. ;)

Around Town and Around the Web This Weekend

Please forgive the iPhone amateur photography, but I could not resist taking this picture! While I do not condone the sentiment, especially around Valentine’s Day, I have to admit, it is hilarious! ;)

I snapped this outside of Baked & Wired, for whom in the DC Cupcake Wars, I cast my vote for very best cupcakes, hands down, no contest!

Betsy Robinson’s Bridal Collection has a double trunk show this weekend, featuring bridal designs by Monique Lhuillier and Thomas Knoell. Call 410-484-4600 to make an appointment.

Mervis Diamond is having a trunk show this weekend and offering the chance to win a honeymoon trip to Iceland. RSVP here.

Carine’s Bridal Atelier is having an accessories sale Monday through Friday. Call 202-965-4696 to make an appointment.

A new name change service Just Call Me Mrs. has just launched.

Ceci New York has a recipe for Chocolate cookies that looks beautiful and a Kiss on the Lips Cocktail that sounds scrumptious!

Theweddingvendor.com has a great new blog with advice for brides and grooms.

Washingtonian has great date ideas, just in case you forgot to make plans for Monday.

I had a little tour of The Spice & Tea Exchange in Georgetown on Friday. It is a wonderful little shop and is available for space rental for parties! Go check it out next time you are in G’town, you can smell all of the spices!

This rhubarb-meringue cake from Camille Styles looks so beautiful and yummy!

Thoughtfully Simple is my kind of girl with her Raspberry Cupcakes a la vodka and Vodka Soaked Berries.

Cutest little valentine shoot ever on Eat Drink Pretty.

Must try Zilch Margaritas, zero calorie margaritas, woo-hoo!
