My baby shower (actually my second one, how lucky am I?!) is this weekend, so I’ve got baby showers on the brain. These are not your mother’s baby showers. The candy bar in the diaper (can someone please ban that game?!), the making a diaper out of toilet paper, and wearing a safety pin around all day and not saying the word “baby” are the baby showers of the past. Now chic lunches, teas, and cocktail parties are more en vogue and I love it and I love all of these adorable details!

Thanksgiving Treats
I love Thanksgiving. It is such a low pressure holiday. Get together, have some yummy food, watch the parade, some football and just be together. What is not to love about such a day? If you are having family or friends over, here are some super adorable Thanksgiving treats you can make.
Fruit Gobbler
Gobble Me Up
Oreo Turkeys
Apple Cider Cups
Pumpkin Pie in a Jar
Turkey Cupcakes (seriously the chicest turkey cupcakes I’ve ever seen!)
Enjoy your baking!
Real Weddings: Kelly & James
Kelly & James were married on a blustery day in September at the beautiful Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort Spa and Marina. The super relaxed bride shrugged off the cold as did all of her guests. Luckily the amazing gazebo where the reception was help has a wood burning fire place, which not only kept guests warm, made for a beautiful setting, but also gave the guests somewhere to toast their s’mores favors later in the night. The fun loving couple named all of their tables after Florida Keys, had a clothesline of escort cards which included pictures of their life together and even tossed around a football during the reception. They are such a cute couple, I did something I rarely do and included more pictures of them than details. I just couldn’t resist! Congratulations Kelly & James!

Fall Favors
I am craving hot donuts and apple cider right now, maybe 50% because it is fall and they go hand in hand, 40% because I’m from Michigan and we pick apples, eat donuts and apple cider at the apple orchard and 10% because I’m pregnant therefore tend to get stuck on something I want until I get it! Regardless, donuts will be the favor at my wedding this weekend and I love it! Who can resist hot apple cider, a warm donut or a candy apple in fall, plus they are just fun and bring back good childhood memories.
Lawn Games
For those of us living on the East Coast, we have probably just passed our last plausible weekend to have outdoor lawn games at your wedding. Despite that, I still love this trend and especially loved it two weeks ago when my clients made their very own corn hole game! Yard games are a fantastic way to bring a fun, casual feel to your wedding while involving and entertaining your guests. They are particularly great for a lunch time wedding or one where you don’t intend to dance. Either way, giving your guests something to do is always a bonus and something they will remember!
Venue Spotlight – Old Town Hall
In the historic district of the city of Fairfax, there is a little hidden gem of a venue. Well hidden to me anyway since I had never even been to the historic district of Fairfax. The area is adorable, with what looks to be cute locally owned restaurants and shops lining the street. It is extremely quaint. Old Town Hall is set on a small park, which could absolutely be used for a small ceremony or would be perfect for cocktail hour. Inside there is one large room with a reception, with exposed beams, huge beautiful stain glass windows and a full catering kitchen.
Upstairs is my favorite part, there is a small library perfect for holding a ceremony. White bookshelves line the walls, making for a perfect backdrop for pictures and a really special ceremony. Couples may bring in their own catering and vendors, decorate as they wish and have use of the entire facility, no other events could go on at the same time as yours! And the price cannot be beat, especially if you are a city of Fairfax resident! If you are looking for something affordable, a little bit different and really quaint, I would check out Old Town Hall.
Bonkers for Burlap
Between rustic weddings and DIY being so in these days, burlap has made a huge comeback! It can be used anywhere, for anything and makes for such a fantastic, natural background for whatever you are doing. If you are planning a rustic, chic event, incorporating some burlap can give any venue a rustic feel.

Etsy Find of the Week
This week I have to highlight an entire shop, not just one of their items. I love everything over at Freshline! I stumbled upon the store looking for some decor for our nursery and hit the mother load and now want to decorate my entire house and my client’s weddings with a piece here and there, no longer just the nursery. Here are a few of my favorites.
Not everything in the store is yellow or has birds on it, I just happen to love those the most.
