Recently, my favorite stationer LilyPad Weddings had a giveaway for Skylar Hill Confections, handcrafted cookies. Well I won and Wendy delivered the most beautiful cookies I have ever seen! I am in love with these, they are almost too pretty to eat. Almost…but my sweet tooth won out and they are delicious. Wendy brought me chocolate and raspberry, but they have plenty of other flavors like vanilla, key lime, anise, mint as well as liquors like amaretto, grand marnier, yum! She can also make them gluten and sugar free upon request. 
Some of you may recognize owner and chef Wendy Pepper from her stint on season one of Project Runway where she was a finalist. Wendy lives in Middleburg, VA and has now made the transition to cookie chef. She told the ladies at LilyPad in a recent interview that she loves using color and she loves cookies, so this was a natural transition from the fashion world. Wendy has not given up her love of design though and still makes custom wedding dresses on the side.

Jasmine Bridal recently held a contest to giveaway a wedding dress to a lucky bride. The contestants were required to submit an essay and 10 finalists have been chosen. One of those finalists is my very own client Anita! I posted Anita and Charles’ engagement photos on the blog not long ago. On Sunday Jasmine Bridal will post the 10 finalists for you to vote on your favorite. The Grand Prize will win a wedding gown & veil, 1 mother of the bride gown, 1 mother of the groom gown, 1 flower girl gown, and 8 bridesmaids dresses. The 1st runner up will win a wedding gown and 5 bridesmaids gowns. The 2nd runner up will win a wedding gown. The rest of the finalist will win a mother of the bride gown!

I am so excited to marry my Marine – but it’s been harder than I expected! My fiancée and I have moved our wedding date several times because of his deployment to Afghanistan. While it’s difficult to live with so much uncertainty and even harder to be apart, the time he’s been away has given me the ability to search for the perfect dress. I went to many boutiques and tried on many beautiful dresses, but I could never find anything that I knew was for me. I had almost given up, but then a consultant brought out a beautiful Jasmine dress. I fell in love with it instantly!
When the consultant saw how excited I was, she brought out Jasmine’s bridesmaid dresses in sweet pea and I knew my bridesmaids would love it. They have all seen the color and have told me that the color was made me. I want all of my bridesmaids to feel and look beautiful in their dresses. I want to give them something that they will love to wear again and again.
I like knowing that my Jasmine dress will be sewn by a seamstress. When I was growing up, my mother hand sewed dresses. I always valued the love and attention that goes into a hand sewn dress. I love wearing dresses, and one of the perks of being a military spouse is that you always have functions to wear them to! I want my wedding dress to be my favorite dress of all time. My fiancée will be getting married in his dress blue uniform; I want an elegant dress to match his uniform. When I tried on Jasmine dresses at the salon, I felt beautiful and confident. I felt exactly how I want to feel on my wedding day.
