Bright and early yesterday morning, right after catching a glimpse of Kate Middleton’s dress, I was off to Running of the Brides, a yearly tradition at Filene’s Basements around the country. Brides to be and their teams of helpers stand in line, sometimes over night (certainly those at the front of the line) in order to literally run into the bargain department store with hundreds of other brides in order to get a deal on a designer wedding dress.
Many of the “teams” played into the royal wedding theme of the day
Some of the teams had a smart strategy to advertise their needs, so trading could more easily take place
Others wanted to make sure to remind their team what they were looking for out there
And some just wanted to make sure to stand out or be able to find each other
8:00 a.m. doors open and there they go!
8:01 a.m. racks are empy!
They gather as many dresses as they can
Start trying them on in the middle of the store
And the craziness continued like this until finally some lucky girls found THE dress 
It is here! Prince William and Kate Middleton will marry today! What will she wear? What will the attendants wear? I thought we could take a look at other royal weddings through the ages to get some ideas.

There is nothing more English than a tea party. And as I have already previously expressed, I love nothing more than a tea party! If you’ve turned on the tv in the last week, every television personality is in London right now and I just bet they are all being treated to 4:00 tea parties galore (well at least in my mind).

Around here we might throw on a hat for a special occasion. I wore an adorable Easter hat if I do say so myself and I recently picked up my hat for Gold Cup, but beyond that, Americans aren’t much for fancy adornment on our noggins and certainly not for weddings. But the Brits, they go all out and I cannot wait to see what they are wearing on Friday!

Sunday is my first anniversary, I’m excited to return to where we got married for brunch. I think it will be lovely and I’m feeling sentimental about the entire thing. As I think about the occasion I thought I might share what I’ve learned this year about how great it is to be married.
1. He knows my faults, quirks and annoying habits and he loves me anyway
2. Unlimited hugs, kisses and I love you’s daily
3. Extra nieces, nephews and family
4. He let’s me put my cold feet on him in bed and he sits on them on the couch
5. He is the favorite half of our couple and I’m good with that! It feels nice to have a husband everyone wants to be around
6. He makes me laugh on my worst days and every day in between
7. My worst days aren’t that bad anymore
8. Learning and growing together and making each other happy
9. He tests my cupcakes, helps me pick out my shoes, listens to my gossip, holds my purse, knows when I need to do something for me, brings home my favorite candy and fills in my words for me when I forget them
10. He’s my partner in everything, always.
