The Oscars are always a big source of inspiration for the fashion and wedding industry. Last night’s red carpet saw lots of jewel tones, modest dresses and little jewelry, though I preferred the classic looks. These are some of my favorites.
Mark Ruffalo – I think he is adorable and looked so classically handsome!

Marisa Tomei – In 1950 couture Charles James dress from Lily et Cie. I love that this is navy instead of black.

Matthew McConaughey & Camila Alves – I think they both look perfection. He is in Dolce & Gabbana and she is wearing Kaufman Franco.

Hailee Steinfeld – In Marches, I believe this is my absolute favorite of the night! This could be a wedding dress!

via Just jared
Helen Mirren – I love this color. This could be a beautiful Mother of the Bride dress.

Robert Downey Jr. – Yes, his top button should have been buttoned, but I love his navy tux and white tie!

Hilary Swank - In Gucci Premiere. I love this because she looks like such a movie star!

I think it is because I simply cannot wait for spring that I am feeling so drawn to yellow and aqua right now. I want to paint all of my walls pale aqua and decorate with bright yellow, it just makes everything so sunny, light and airy!

Don’t we all wish we could have someone come into our homes or offices and tell us how to best arrange our furniture or what colors to use in our space? Jessica at JGB Interiors is that person! JGB Interiors specializes in residential design consultations. Jessica has a masters in interior design from the Corcoran College of Art and Design here in DC where she is also an adjunct faculty member. Besides residential design consultations, JGB Interiors also offers interior color consultations, interior re-designs, remote design consultations and hourly consultation. Jessica has an amazing eye for design, she is so talented!

Jessica tells me “I absolutely LOVE doing color consultations (meaning prescribe paint colors for someone’s home). Typically this is a one-time-service, where I spend about 90 minutes at someone’s home walking through and doing a preliminary palette; then I think about it for a few days and do some more research, make final swatch selections, send them in the mail, and ask them to test a few per room. They make their choices based on the light/shade/preference…(I’ll come back if they’re struggling) and that’s it — they paint! It’s so gratifying and immediate, and incidentally my last 4 or 5 have been mostly engaged couples that have just bought homes.”
Check out Jessica’s blog, Paint It What I Tell You. To schedule a consultation call 202.997.6203 or jessica@jgbinteriors.com
This party is from the summer, but since the blog is new this is my first chance to highlight this super fun, pink daisy birthday party. The party was held in the private room at Food Matters in Alexandria, VA. Much of their food is from local producers and they also provide Food Matters Community Supported Agriculture which offers local herbs, eggs, flowers and produce to the community members. This is a cool place! Tanner’s mom wanted a bright, daisy, fairy feel for her birthday princess. The children left with favor bags of toys and goodies and the adults left with the lovely cookies pots created by Jill Agudelo of Rita’s Kitchen.
